The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. The ILL operates the brightest neutron source in the world, reliably delivering intense neutron beams to 40 unique scientific instruments. The Institute welcomes more than 2000 visiting scientists per year to carry out world-class research in solid-state physics, crystallography, soft matter, biology, chemistry and fundamental physics. Funded primarily by its three founder members: France, Germany and the United Kingdom, the ILL has also signed scientific collaboration agreements with 12 other countries. The Science Division currently has a vacancy :

Research Engineer in high pressure crystallography (m/f)

Duties:

Under the direct supervision of the Laue instrument responsible, you will work closely with the members of the Diffraction and Sample Environment groups. In the framework of a French consortium involving ILL, ICMCB (Bordeaux) and University of Rennes 1, you will interact with teams involved in the development of new single molecule magnets, in particular in the field of high-pressure photomagnetism. Your duty will be focussed on the development of a new high pressure sample environment for neutron scattering studies at low temperature under light irradiation.

Qualifications and experience:

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a keen interest in developing high pressure studies in medium pressure range for neutron scattering. You should have experience in material sciences, with a master's degree or higher. An experience in laser optics or cryogenics would also be greatly appreciated. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in neutron diffraction.

We offer you a great career opportunity in a multi-cultural work environment. For your relocation and integration we help you with generous company benefits (expatriation allowance), relocation assistance and French language courses for you and your partner.
