Two Lectureships in Solidification Research (Vacancy Ref HPA0038-4)

Applications from suitable candidates are invited for two research lectureships to work in BCAST (Brunel Centre for Advanced Solidification Technology) at Brunel University. Both posts will be permanent and the starting annual salary will be in the range from £33,432 to £43,622 per annum plus £2,166 per annum London Weighting depending on qualifications and experience. Candidates with exceptional quality may be offered at a higher level.

BCAST is a speciality research institute (SRI) focusing on solidification related research with an international reputation. BCAST currently has 27 researchers and 5 supporting staff. Our research covers a wide range in the solidification field, from fundamental study on nucleation and technological development to industrial applications. BCAST is also well equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities for both solidification processing and materials characterisation. See http://bcast.brunel.ac.uk for more information. We are currently looking for two new colleagues who can reinforce our existing research areas and develop new research topics in the solidification field.

You should have a strong background and a PhD degree in metallurgy, materials science and engineering or physics. Expertise and experience in either theoretical or experimental solidification research are essential. A proven track record in successful research evidenced by high quality publications in internationally reputable journals is expected. Success in attraction of research funding from external sources and experience in supervision of PhD students are both favourable although not essential.
