Summary

The work will be focused on contact lenses and ophthalmic materials development. Our research involves polymer formulation development, study of structure-property relationships of hydrogels and investigation of their physical, mechanical and biological properties. The candidate will carry out daily lab operation including setting up reactions, purification, extraction, and characterization of resulting materials using instruments such as spectrometers, surface analytical tools, mechanical testers, and thermo characterization tools. Experiences with hydrogels and understanding of structure-property relations are plus.

Experience/Education

  • M.S or B.S in Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Materials Sciences. Master degree is preferred. Not looking for Ph.D's.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experiences in polymer synthesis and characterization with minimum 5 years of industrial experiences or combination of experience and education are a must.
  • Experiences in hydrogel, drug delivery and nanotechnology are plus
  • Ability to work out experiments with minimum supervision.
  • Candidate should be self-driven to acquire new knowledge, skill and techniques, has the ability to accurately record observation of experimental results consistent with protection of intellectual properties.  
  • Perform analysis and characterization including HPLC, GPC, FTIR, UV-Vis, DSC, mechanical testing, water content and contact angle in accordance with written procedure.
  • Analytical and problem solving ability, creative, good communication skills, strong organizational skill and coordination skills for multi-tasking are essential.
